Volunteer Connection Events
The following are Volunteer Connection’s annual events.
FALL QUARTER 2013
Volunteer Expo, Fall Quarter
The purpose of Volunteer Expo is to expose UCSD students to different volunteer opportunities available in the San Diego community. Each year Volunteer Connection invites various on and off campus non-profit, community service based organizations onto library walk where they can promote their cause and agency to students. In past years this volunteer fair has been successful in informing and helping UCSD students become more involved and educated about the ongoing service opportunities in the UCSD and San Diego communities.
Thanksgiving Service Project, Fall Quarter
Each year the Volunteer Connection staff assists those in need during the holiday season. Our Thanksgiving Project includes passing out invitations to individuals residing in downtown San Diego for the free Thanksgiving meal served by the San Diego rescue mission.
Saturday, TBD / Week TBD / 7:00am-10:00am @ San Diego Rescue Mission
WINTER QUARTER 2014
College Day, Winter Quarter
College Day is a Volunteer Connection sponsored event that collaborates with lower performing middle schools in the greater San Diego community to bring middle school students onto campus and inform them about higher education in active and engaging ways. UCSD students are paired with a corresponding middle school student for the duration of the event to help the students become familiar with college life. The students are taken on a scavenger hunt around the UCSD campus, are served dinner and are taken to the UCSD Men’s Volleyball game at the end of the night.

SPRING QUARTER, 2014
Hands on San Diego, Spring Quarter
This is Volunteer Connection’s largest event of the year. Hands on San Diego is purposed to promote volunteering among the UCSD community by serving communities in the San Diego area. Student volunteers are sent to neighboring communities where they take part in restoration projects, graffiti removal and community awareness. Student volunteers are provided with a t-shirt, breakfast, lunch and transportation to and from the UCSD campus.
